MAFANA Band

MAFANA means ”to know” or “to understand” in the indigenous Amis language. However, if the tone of one's voice is raised, saying “to know” ironically becomes “not knowing”, or “to not understand”. During the formation of the band, band members couldn’t decide on a name, and considered calling the band “ the unknown band”. Later they decided that this would appear too tacky, hence they chose the Amis word MAFANA. MAFANA, to know or not to know, the musical journey of five boys in a band MAFANA has started.
